Bart E. Muhs M.D., PhD, FACS is a Board-certified, internationally respected vascular surgeon who brings a wealth of vascular knowledge and experience to International Vein Clinics.
Previously Dr. Muhs was the Co-Director of Endovascular Surgery and the Clinical Director of Vascular Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine.
Dr. Muhs has an international reputation for quality. He serves on the Editorial Board of Endovascular Today and is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Therapy and the journal Aorta. Dr. Muhs is a frequent lecturer and proctor around the world having given invited lectures and performing surgery in over fifteen different countries.
Dr. Muhs has lived in coastal Connecticut with his wife and two daughters since 2008. He has quickly established himself as one of the leading vascular physicians in the area, performing more endovascular aortic repairs than any other regional physician. He has served as the lead investigator on numerous clinical trials, evaluating new devices and techniques for the treatment of vascular problems. Dr. Muhs was the first physician in Connecticut to perform advanced aortic fenestrated repairs and aortic repairs without incisions. His overarching drive has been to deliver less invasive, better quality and more effective care with a relentless drive to avoid open surgery. Dr. Muhs remains on the leading edge of the endovascular revolution in vascular surgery.
Marsel Huribal, M.D., FACS is a Board certified general and vascular surgeon who specializes in vascular and endovascular techniques for the treatment of arterial and venous disease.
Dr. Huribal’s particular areas of interest include the endovascular repair of aortic and thoracic aneurysms. Special interest includes the treatment of varicose veins using the most advanced procedures approved by the FDA.
Dr. Huribal was one of the first vascular surgeons in Connecticut to perform the endovenous ablation (closure) of varicose veins offering in-office relief to patients suffering from painful leg varicosities.
A native of Chicago, Dr. Peter Hahn traveled to the East Coast for his undergraduate studies at Harvard University. He then moved to New York City where he completed medical school at Cornell University Medical College and internal medicine residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. New Haven and Indianapolis were the sites of his advanced fellowships, and Dr. Hahn is currently Board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
Dr. Hahn developed the first cardiac electrophysiology program in western Massachusetts, and has practiced in Boston, Upstate New York and Connecticut. His training and experience in performing complex, intra-cardiac ablations will be invaluable as he continues to treat vascular disease using advanced Endovascular Ablation technology at International Vein Clinics.
Prior to joining International Vein Clinics, Dr. Albert Sam II served as an Associate Professor of Surgery and Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the Tulane Heart & Vascular Institute in New Orleans from 2012-2016.
In addition to becoming one of the first physicians nationally to be Board-certified in general surgery, vascular surgery and endovascular medicine; he has served as a Principal Investigator for numerous national and international vascular clinical trials including the NIH stroke trials CREST and CREST-2.
He served from 2013-2015 as Tulane’s Board Chair of the Gulf South Quality Network - a clinically integrated physician network comprising nine-member hospitals and 1,600 physicians in Louisiana, overseeing processes to improve quality and safety.
Brian J. Kelly, M.D. is Board-certified in general surgery and Board-certified in vascular surgery. He treats a full spectrum of vascular disease. His interests include aortic disease, carotid disease, peripheral arterial disease, and venous disease.
Dr. Kelly is a Connecticut native, having grown up in southeastern Connecticut. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, receiving his board certification in General Surgery in 2014. He also holds additional training in vascular surgery at the State University of New York, Stony Brook campus.
Elizabeth L. Evans, RN, BSN, MS, ANP-BC, CNS resides in Old Lyme, CT and has worked at International Vein Clinics since December 2016 as a Board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner for vein treatment.
She has been an Adult Nurse Practitioner at Jefferson Radiology in Farmington, CT, Circulatory Center of CT in Old Lyme, and currently at International Vein Clinics. She has in depth experience in providing vein patient education, reviewing imaging and developing treatment plans for patients. Furthermore, she has vast knowledge in treating superficial veins with sclerotherapy as well as venous ablation.
She attended Florida State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and also attended San Diego State University where she received a Master in Science, Adult and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Concentration.
Evans has also worked in Honolulu, HI at Radiology Associates and worked in a variety of settings in San Diego, CA including the Mid-City Community Clinic, Alvarado Hospital, the Office of Dr. Donald Lipkis and Sharp Memorial Hospital. Additionally, she has served as a board member at the Grossmont Healthcare District in La Mesa, CA. Her vast experience in vein treatment will be an asset to the success of International Vein Clinics.
Amy Cimminello, PA-C is a well-respected physician assistant with vast knowledge in venous disease and treatment.
PA Cimminello began her career as a surgical Physician Assistant for Eastern Vascular Associates at Montefiore Medical Center, Weiler Division. She assisted in vascular and general surgery as well as conducted pre- and post-operative hospital rounds. She later joined The Vein Therapy & Laser Center of Fairfield County where she was director for twelve years. She is proficient in all aspects of venous disease diagnosis and treatment, including assisting with endovenous laser ablation and ambulatory phlebectomy for varicose veins. She also brings extensive experience in cosmetic procedures including sclerotherapy and topical laser for spider veins, laser for facial veins and hair removal.
She received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Ithaca College. Then went on to attend Weill Cornell University Medical College where she graduated from the Physician Assistant Program with a surgical focus in 2001.
PA Cimminello holds a Connecticut Physician Assistant License, a National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Board certification and is Board-certified in Surgery. She brings a wealth of experience to the new International Vein Clinics Norwalk location.
Kristine C. Lane, PA-C joined International Vein Clinics in 2018. She graduated from Drexel University with a Master in Health Science as a Physician Assistant.
Kristine held a Surgical Physician Assistant position at Shoreline Surgical Associates, where she primarily treated patients with a variety of vascular complications including peripheral arterial disease and venous insufficiencies. Additionally, she has extensive experience in performing Sclerotherapy for the treatment of spider veins. Previously, she worked in the Adult Urgent Care and Pediatric Emergency Room at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT.
Her certifications include Connecticut Physician Assistant License, Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certified and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified.
Nicole L. Mills, DNP, APRN is Board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2016, graduating from Quinnipiac University with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice. She is a local Connecticut resident and is a current member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and American Nurses Association. She completed her undergraduate studies at Southern Connecticut State University. She is currently licensed and in good standing with the State of Connecticut as an APRN.
She began her career at Saint Francis Hospital as a Registered Nurse in Trauma, Orthopedic and Neurosurgery. She transitioned to Saint Francis Hospital’s Cardiovascular Operating Room and Main Operating Room as a Circulating and Scrub Nurse. She briefly worked in the Operating Room at Middlesex Hospital before joining International Vein Clinics, bringing seven years of surgical nursing experience with her to the practice.
